the artful map

Maps as art I am loving!

1. Because it looks good
2. Is a great DIY
3. Is CHEAP!

What a perfect decorating idea! The whole black and white thing looks fab!

Just like this pic from my previous blog! Still loving it!!

Would also work great with a brown timber frame and an old map for an antique feel. You don't even have to frame it!

Or an old-school feel - a bit retro

Or for a purpose... as curtains!!

Or the nifty wall decal!! So much choice!!!!

Or you could take it all the way... and wallpaper the whole room with vintage maps!

cute as kitsche

This is absolutely cute as a button! But the bit I am loving most of all is the little cushion with the red medical cross on it! I am doing nursing and am in love with lil' things like that!

a light bulb for your thoughts

OMG I LOVE LOVE the exposed light bulb!!

Too many would not be a good idea - imagine the cost of replacing the lot!! haha...but I am in love...

I love the bulbs hanging down, but I don't know how I feel about the cord being oversized and hooked to the ceiling... but then I see the next pic of the cords hooked in a chandelier shape and I'm back in love again!

Love the colours in this room! I am loving black, white and grey at the moment!!!

...and the very over-spunky lamp!

paradise lost

...well not completely lost yet... there is still hope!

The bank has come back after valuing the land Mr Piggy and I want to buy and ...its overpriced!! Argh!! The land developer was *shocked and astonished* that it was so under valued...hmm.. So now its getting re-valued! And apparently theres a high risk of its price going down in the next 2 years... Personally we are thinking that is based more on the state of the economy than the actual land itself - so no matter where we go, theres going to be a risk. What do you do?

Plan is to have the property re-valued and then express to the land developer that we are very interested in the land, but are only prepared to pay what it is worth. We are ready to go!! We will buy straight away! We even have a contract being drawn up for the house plan! But we are ready to let it all go if they aren't fair with the price... We are prepared to walk away completely and look elseware. I already have a bit of a bad taste in my mouth so who knows....? How upsetting... oh well, lets keep dreaming about design then...send some good vibes out there :)

lil' piggy getting busy!!

I've been busy...but I'm back and building a house!! Not personally... theres builders for that...but the land is almost bought and theres a deposit on the house!

Mr Piggy and I are running with an Eden Brae home - the Oxford 23. Our dream is to own a fairly open plan home, with good entertaining areas, a good backyard and two living areas. This ticks our boxes and is very modern and so functional to boot! Its our taste and although not the one-of-a-kind home we have in our heads - its is definately something we can personalise! Its looks great with minimal furniture - which is our dream so we can get less furniture of a higher quality and put a bit of quirk into it!

This is it... (but it will be flipped to suit the land)

knot plain

I love simple things that are just so effective! I love a lil quirk! I would fall over myself for this chair!!! It would look great underneath that Ikea Swedish alphabet picture!!

those swedes

Went to Ikea (which is like Disneyland for adults - although there is a kids section as well, I guess...) and just fell in love with their displays! Not all to my taste and I must admit that some of their prices are quite pricey now days... but LOVE LOVE!!

Mr Piggy fell in love with the below picture. Of course he would...he almost moved to Sweden to study for a year!

I have a lot of love for him so I think this will be a must! I have come to terms with the fact that every time he looks at it...he is going to sound out the alphabet and every time his brother comes over, he is going to do the same! (They both studied Swedish for a year or so - Mr Piggy was so bad- his teacher told him to speak English when he went!!) But at least he can live out the good ol' days!
